Unless expressly specified all mailboxes use the same server settings for the use of protocols SMTP, POP3, IMAP and their respective secure and encrypted variants SMTPS, IMAPS and POP3S.
All server names of both outgoing SMTP and incoming POP3 or IMAP mail refer to the hostname: mail.hostalo.it
We comply with the specific RFC standards of the relevant protocols and the respective TCP ports which you can view below:
SMTP : 25 or 587
SMTPS : 465
POP3 : 110
POP3S : 995
IMAP : 143
IMAPS extension : 993
For secure protocols, the recommended encryption type is TLS or SSL on a per client basis.
It is recommended that you set up your e-mail clients in a secure configuration using secure protocols, especially where you frequently connect to a potentially unsafe wireless network of others.
Regarding the difference between IMAP and POP3 protocol, we invite you to read the following FAQ: What is the difference between IMAP and POP3?
